A few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to do exactly just that with the Seabourn Soujourn.
We wanted to understand how the Seabourn differs from other ultra-luxury brands.
With a full afternoon of touring the stunning vessel, here are the elements that make this world-class cruise line, exceptionally unique.
Size Does(n’t) Matter!
Seabourne is a known for offering a fleet of intimate-sized ships. It wasn’t a surprise when we were met with a charming, yet stunning vessel. But size can be deceiving! Despite being smaller than your average cruise fleet, the Soujourn offered incredibly spacious and luxurious cabins.
We thought that this was available for one particular category. But travellers will be pleasantly happy to know that the vessel offers this type of stunning layout for four to five of their categories. We were taken aback with the spaciousness of these cabins! Some even offering a walk-in closet. We felt this level of luxury in every room. The bathrooms were elegant and felt more like a spa!
Less Is More
Some cruise lines don’t need very much in terms of design to make an impact. The Soujourn offers a more holistic approach in its interior design, possessing very sleek, minimalist and understated decor. Instead of glitz and glamour, the vessel provides a more serene space that features natural woods and neutral colours, with just a pop of eclectic art throughout.
The vessel tastefully executes a retreat-style ambiance. We guarantee that you will feel right at home!
Delectable Eats
While we did not get to eat anything, they do offer gourmet cuisine throughout. The vessel even had a world-renowned Thomas Keller restaurant.
Top-shelf brands are offered in all areas of the vessel and all drinks are included. There are no extra costs for any dining or food. Gratuities are not required, nor expected. This is fantastic news for any discerning traveller. You won’t need to worry about taking your wallet anywhere on the vessel.
The calibre of dining extends from the restaurants, right down to your cabin. Each cabin includes a full espresso and coffee machine. Clearly, Soujourn knows what is needed to get the day started!
Customizable drink selections are also available in each cabin. If you have a specific drink preference, the team at Soujourn will specifically source and provide a full bottle for your cabin.
“Caviar Meets Adventure”
It’s true that the Soujourn offers caviar-calibre service in everything that they do. This also leads us to the other areas where we feel that the Soujourn stands out.
This cruise line has a strong and undeniable focus on adventure. Because their ships are smaller, they can actually open up the back of the ship for water sports.
In Alaska for example, they will take clients on the zodiacs to a bay where they have the kayaks ready for exploration. It’s in this way that there is no “toughing it” from the ship, Seabourn brings YOU to the adventure.
This is enhanced by the ships’ ability to go into smaller and out-of-the-way bays, areas and ports. This applies to the Caribbean and all other locations as well.
Compared to other cruise line itineraries, the Seabourn takes travellers into many more interesting, less travelled, and unique ports. This gives you a different experience and lends some excitement to days at sea. Seabourn has also partnered with UNESCO on many voyages, giving clients access to areas no one else can visit.
Worth the Investment
